Yoshua Bengio is a Canadian computer scientist and professor of computer science at the Université de Montréal. He is a prominent figure in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly in the subfield of deep learning. Bengio is known for his pioneering work in neural networks and deep learning, which have been instrumental in driving the recent advancements in AI. He is the co-founder of the Montreal Institute for Learning Algorithms (MILA), one of the world's leading research centers in deep learning. Bengio has also served as the scientific director of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research's (CIFAR) Learning in Machines and Brains program. Bengio received his Ph.D. in computer science from McGill University in 1991. He has held academic positions at the Université de Montréal since the early 1990s and has been a visiting professor at various institutions, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Collège de France.
